This is really great: an indie website that lets you figure out where to get a vaccine and whether you're eligible. https://
Trying out Celestial Seasonings Energy Tea, which I guess is the anti-Sleepytime? I wasn't expecting green tea to smell of peaches, that's for sure.
Had a Zoom call with someone whose fancy office background looked real - until it BLEW AWAY IN THE WIND to reveal his kitchen.
Achievement unlocked: can now wear a ponytail for the first time in my life.
Also, as soon as I feel like I can get a haircut, I’m cutting it down, bleaching it, and dying it some bright color.
Another run down. I’ve been getting steadily fitter, and steadily losing weight, so far this year. My aim: to get back to the point I was at when I moved to California a decade ago.
Spent longer than intended fixing a Known bug, which turned into making a better pattern for the wider problem, which turned into an even wider exploration into tests and documentation. Satisfying, but I’ll be tired in the morning.
Today marks the eighth anniversary of my mother's double lung transplant. What a journey. So glad to be here with her - and that she's here with us. I feel really privileged to be able to be a part-time carer for her.
Re: Bezos stepping down as Amazon CEO, I'm really interested to see what the other shoe looks like when it drops.
Testing posting from the Micro.blog app straight to Known. Did this land?
I really love posting straight from iA Writer now that micropub is fixed in Known. It's beautifully simple.
I wrote a simple script that gathers my bookmarks over the last month from Notion and turns them into a link roundup post. It’s evolved over time to include streaming media and books I liked, too. It’s taken something that used to take me hours and turned it into a five minute job.
Feeling about ready to stop throwing cash into the rental money void. But buying in the Bay Area just doesn’t feel worth it (and I’m not sure if I even have the means). And at the same time, as my parents get older and less healthy, I don’t want to be anywhere else.
I’ve grown to really dislike Known’s “filter content” pulldown menu. It’s so clunky. But I wonder what would be a better design? It needs to be extensible with plugins, but also friendly on touch devices (I mostly post from my phone or iPad). Thinking about it.
This site is now running the latest version of Known from git - and I plan to keep it that way. I nuked the install and started again, but kept the db config.
I'm going to resume posting status updates here (without syndicating). I'm not sure if anyone is checking them - but it feels like a good thing to do.
Have you considered getting one of these to help with the discomfort? https://

Demoing Known on stage at Folsom Street Foundry for the first time in four years. Feels weird.

My friend Hugh Hancock suddenly passed away this week. He was instrumental in inventing Machinima. Here he is on Charlie Stross’s blog announcing his film Death Knight Love Story, starring Brian Blessed and Joanna Lumley. http://
The Prototype Fund is looking for 25 open source projects to fund with up to €47,500. You need to be resident in Germany, but honestly, this sounds great. https://
Founder conflict: “it is OK to talk about it, put it on the table, and deal with it.” http://
Could stagnant wages be because we - and particularly non-coastal workers - have a smaller total number of employers to choose from? https://
