@dlnorman Suggestion: pieces between 2-5K. Could either be done in the open, or as a real paper anthology, eg to benefit an edu nonprofit.

@dlnorman What kind of length are you thinking? Who else would be into this? :) cc @audreywatters @jimgroom @timmmmyboy @holden

@dlnorman I would love to participate in this.

@stevejburge @fqure It might be easier to set up the legal structure here maybe? It's certainly not because there's open source funding.

@fqure @stevejburge Fwiw Known is a C-Corp so doesn't belong on that list (but I appreciate the thought!).

@fqure @stevejburge There's a great implicit question here. Europe cares a lot about open source. Where are the foundations / projects?

@nitot The biggest issue for me is that, although I grew up there, I'm not British! It would make the mechanics of moving back harder.

@acroom @timmmmyboy @rushaw Please do bother! We want to help! Self-hosted support is effectively here: https://github.com/idno/known/issues/

@timmmmyboy @rushaw @cogdog Known 0.9.1 is coming out a little early to fix this. Thanks for the report, and sorry again for the issue.

@timmmmyboy You're absolutely right. Okay, this is a reason to prep February's release. I'm sorry.

· Replies · Share this post

@timmmmyboy !!! We literally build the release from the GH download, so something terrible happened there. 0.9.0.4?

· Replies · Share this post

@timmmmyboy Okay. I'm sorry to hear that :( Maybe a permissions thing on the file in the package? Odd that it's just that one.

· Replies · Share this post

@holden I wasn't - there are a few of these. See https://tent.io/, also. I like the mission, but not the protocol-first approach.

@rushaw Sorry you had an issue! @timmmmyboy, checking in here - did you say we have an old file in our package?

@t I was making fun :) I really do see a bright future. But definitely looking forward to hanging out and seeing the movie.

@riprowan I'd say it sits alongside a WordPress. I've heard it described as a "sideblog". Notes and ideas as well as finished pieces.

@riprowan The big deal is deeper connections with the networks you already use. eg, everything I share on Twitter is syndicated from my site

@StartupLJackson I think he knows exactly what year it is, and Dell's own enterprise cloud offerings are falling flat. Ofc, this will too.

Two things that I think are different about doing startups out here and in Cambridge:

1. Flip-flops are totally cool,

2. and failure is embraced as a part of life.

A startup is a serious endeavor and you need to give it more than your all. But ultimately, if you fail and you legitimately tried your very best, it's not a black mark. You continue, and try again. It's all about how you deal with failure.

I'm sorry it ended. Onto the next adventure!

@harryhalpin Does that mean I can count you down for an interview? :)

@riprowan That's one. Also: discovery (search and proactive notifications on things like trends), verbs / actions, federation content types.

Back in the present: "I don't know where I'm going with this," one man types grimly into his iPhone. "And I'm late for a baby shower."
