Paid the $8 to watch Trainspotting 2 on my flight back to SFO. Correct decision. The original Trainspotting was a huge part of my life on moving to Edinburgh in 1997, and this feels like watching old friends. Twisted, twisted old friends. Not to mention the city itself, which really is much-missed.

House is honestly a bit creepier now there's no-one in it. Night alone in a cabin in the woods on a full moon, here I come ...

Returning to civilization this weekend. Light beard growth is, of course, the traditional way to signal to everyone that you've been away.

We were very sad to lose my aunt Ricky this morning. I have so many good memories; I'm so proud to have this ridiculously kind, close-knit family, and she is such an important part of it. Ma declared today a celebration of her sister's freedom from pain and fear. I am taking today in that spirit, and remembering the love and good memories. IPF was a struggle, but it doesn't get to have the privilege of overshadowing the joy and light in anybody's life.
